Daventry’s new cinema operators have treated future audiences to a sneak preview of how the four-screen complex could look when it opens its doors in spring next year.
The Arc Cinema is working closely with Daventry District Council (DDC) to finalise its plans for fitting out the cinema, which is currently being built at the Mulberry Place development on the former library site off North Street.
As part of the preparations, The Arc Cinema, working with its architects NBDA, have unveiled an animated fly-through video showing how the cinema will look using the proposed branding, furnishings and colour schemes currently being developed.

DDC’s appointed construction firm Willmott Dixon is currently progressing the transformation of the former Daventry library site into a new four-screen cinema complex, with restaurants, public square and splash fountains.
Construction work on the cinema is expected to be completed in November, when it will then be handed over to The Arc Cinema for a specialist interior fit-out that will ensure a high-quality and personal screening experience for film-goers of all ages. While this work takes place, Willmott Dixon will finish the completion of the public square, splash fountains and restaurant units to a point where they are suitable for tenants fit-out.
Councillor David James, DDC’s Economic, Regeneration and Employment Portfolio Holder, said: “The Arc Cinema’s indicative video for how the cinema will look is really impressive and further builds local excitement and anticipation for next year’s opening.
“Despite these challenging times with Covid our contractors Willmott Dixon have also done brilliantly to keep construction on track for a spring completion and we’re delighted with the progress being made.”
Brian Gilligan, Director for Melcorpo, which runs The Arc Cinema, said: “We are delighted to be working with Daventry District Council to bring this great new cinema to Daventry and we would like to express our grateful thanks to them for their support in helping make this possible.
“The facilities have been specially designed to ensure we become a leisure hub enabling us to provide a focal point for the people of Daventry. We recently opened refurbished cinemas in Hucknall and Peterhead which have been very well received. Our customers there love the fact that we offer a luxurious VIP experience but we only charge standard cinema prices, and we think that unique combination is perfectly suited to Daventry.”
The Arc Cinema runs an established chain of cinemas in Ireland and is coming to Daventry as part of its UK expansion programme, which will see the launch of a regional chain in the East Midlands area.
The Arc Cinema was selected as operator by DDC last autumn due to its successful track record in providing a high-quality and friendly cinema experience that can be tailored to local communities.
