Bulky waste collections
Over the Christmas period, bulky waste collections will be suspended from Monday 24 December 2018 until Wednesday 2 January 2019.
A bulky waste collection service is offered by the Council (undertaken by Daventry Norse), allowing people to arrange for unwanted large and bulky items of household furniture or appliances to be collected from outside their home.
The items you wish to dispose of will be collected on the arranged collection day and should be left at the kerbside for collection by 6:30am on that day.
Please empty and clean white goods (kitchen appliances), otherwise they will not be taken. Any additional item left with booked items or any items not as described will not be taken. You must tell us of any changes to the booked items at least two working days before collection.
Neither Daventry District Council, nor Daventry Norse shall be liable for any incident, damage or accident, however caused, arising from the exercise of the Council, Daventry Norse or any other organisation working on their behalf, through its officers, workmen or agents, of the rights and obligations hereby granted.

Clinical waste collection
Clinical waste is collected from domestic premises at the request of the Health Authority. Yellow bags are provided for this purpose; they are collected and taken for incineration, as the nature of the waste requires.
The service is free based upon a one bag per week allowance.
Clinical waste, defined in the Controlled Waste Regulations 1992, means any waste which consists wholly or partly of:
human or animal tissue
blood or bodily fluids
drugs or other pharmaceutical products
swabs or dressings
syringes, needles or other sharp instruments which unless rendered safe may prove hazardous to any person coming into contact with it.
Any other waste arising from medical, nursing, dental, veterinary, pharmaceutical or similar practice, investigation, treatment, care teaching or research, or the collection of blood for transfusion, being waste which may cause infection to any person coming into contact with it.
If the waste is non-hazardous, and as long as it is appropriately bagged and sealed, it is acceptable for the waste to be disposed of with household waste. This is usually the case with sanitary towels, nappies and incontinence pads which are not considered to be hazardous when they originate from a healthy population.

Hazardous waste - Asbestos
You can hire a licensed, specialist company to remove and/or dispose of the asbestos for you, such companies can be found online.
Alternatively, small quantities of ‘bonded asbestos’, arising from household maintenance and repairs, can be taken by you, the householder, to the Waste Transfer Station operated by SITA, located on the Brackmills Industrial Estate in Northampton under the Asbestos Disposal Scheme. Please telephone Brackmills Waste Transfer Station on 0121 333 2118 to arrange a disposal time.
Each individual bonded asbestos sheet / pipe must be wrapped in clear thick gauge polythene sheeting (available from DIY stores) and sealed with tape to prevent the release of dust (maximum length per piece = 1.8 metres). Depending on the type of asbestos, a charge may be incurred. This scheme is only available for asbestos from your own home and not for trade waste.
Pull out and return or assisted collection
A ‘pull out and return' service is offered to residents of the District that are physically unable to put out their bins and boxes for collection.
If there is no one else in the household or a regular visitor or neighbour that can put the bins and boxes out for collection, then our refuse team will collect the bins and boxes from your property, empty and return them.
If everyone in the household is physically unable to move the bins and boxes to the collection point then contact us to arrange for crew members to collect your wheelie bins / boxes from your property, and then return them once they have been emptied.
Please contact us if you wish to arrange a pull out and return or assisted waste collection.
