Are you homeless or threatened with homelessness with a mental illness or learning disability?
You can seek assistance from the Housing Options team if:
If there is reason to believe that you are threatened with homelessness within 56 days, we will try to help you to prevent your homelessness. If there is reason to believe that you are homeless, we will try to help you to find alternative accommodation.
We may be able to help you in the following ways:

Mediating with family and friends to keep you in their property

Assisting to prevent your eviction

Referring you to supported accommodation
-
Helping you to access our housing register
-
Helping you to find private rented accommodation

Referring you to support agencies
We may also be able to provide you with emergency accommodation, if we have reason to believe you may be priority need.
We would consider you priority need if you fit into one of the following categories:

You are pregnant or you have dependent children

You are vulnerable as a result of old age, mental illness, learning disability, physical disability or any other special reason

You are 16-17 years old

You are considered vulnerable after leaving custody

You are considered vulnerable after leaving the military
-
You are under 21 years old and have been in care between 16 and 18 years old

You are over 21 years old and are vulnerable as a result of being in care
-
You are vulnerable as a result of fleeing violence or abuse
-
You are homeless or threatened with homelessness as a result of emergency (e.g. flood, fire, other disaster)
You may decide you wish to make your own temporary arrangements through staying with friends and family whilst you look for alternative accommodation.
Where you have any other agencies working with you, we will try to work in partnership to provide you with the necessary support and intervention you require. This could include holding multi-agency meetings with agencies such as mental health organisations, GPs and social services.
