The Changing Face of Daventry

Ambitious plans to enhance Daventry are under way - coupling innovation with practicality to create a sustainable, thriving town for today's residents and future generations.

As the town's population is set to almost double by the Year 2021, Daventry District Council is working in partnership with a range of organisations on delivering its Town Centre Vision  (TCV) - a regeneration programme aimed at improving the town's amenities and economic and social vitality.

New cinema development (TCV Site 1)

Proposals to transform land on the north-west of Daventry town centre with a new shopping development

The Daventry WaterSpace (TCV Site 3)

Proposed development Eastern Way, Daventry, to include housing, offices, a health centre, a hotel, and restaurants, cafes and bars, to be scenically set around new water basins and moorings linking to a new canal arm (Site 3)

Daventry Canal Arm and Boatlift

Plans to build Britain's first destination canal arm in 150 years, coupled with proposals for an innovative boatlift, to encourage tourism and economic growth in Daventry District


Abbey Retail Park (Site 4A)

The first physical changes to significantly improve Daventry town centre's retail offer were completed in early 2009 with the opening of the Abbey Retail Park.

Shop Front Improvement Grant Scheme

Daventry District Council are offering grants for shop front improvements within Daventry Town Centre as a one off project in 2018. The scheme is designed to improve the overall street scene within the Town Centre.

Consultation on Economic Development & Corporate Procurement strategies

Daventry District Council is currently consulting on its  Draft Economic Development Strategy 2018-2021. The strategy highlights four key themes where DDC can add value and shape opportunities for the benefit of the District's economy. 

At the same time, Daventry District Council is also consulting on its  newly refreshed procurement and best value strategy. This document sets out the council’s approach to procurement and achieving best value in the one place, and the council is keen to find out the thoughts from businesses and key stakeholders on the proposed approach.
