The Data Protection Act 2018 gives you the right to:
be informed that your personal information is being processed by the Council
access your personal information and receive a copy in a machine-readable format
erase your records
restrict how your information is processed
object to automated decision-making and direct marketing
These are not absolute rights, so do not always apply. For example a restriction will apply to your right to erase records where the Council is required to keep your record to help prevent fraud. If your rights have been restricted your will be informed why.

When requesting information from the Council, please be very specific. The more specific you are in your request the easier it is to find precise information quickly.
Proof of identity and proof of authority
Protecting your personal information is extremely important to the Council, so before your request for personal information can be processed, the Council must verify your identity. Suitable proof includes a copy of one of the following; bus pass, utility bill, bank statement, driving licence, birth certificate or similar document. Copies are acceptable.
If you are asking for information about someone else you must provide written evidence that you have the authority to act on behalf of that person. All documents will be returned to you as quickly as possible.
