Information for Private Landlords
The Council has teamed up with DASH (Decent and Safe Homes) Landlord Accreditation to set up this free forum, which aims to support landlords and managers of privately rented properties to offer good and safe housing.
Forums take place every six months in order to provide a platform where views, news and experience can be shared and discussed between private landlords and relevant services. It is also an opportunity for landlords to find out about local changes and changes in legislation that affect them.
The forums usually consist of a series of presentations and talks, with opportunities to speak with various council services and other relevant organisations.
Details of the last meeting:
14 November 2018: Fire safety, risk assessments, an overview of the services offered by Daventry Norse and the latest legal changes to the private rented sector were covered during Daventry District Council’s most recent Landlords’ Forum.
The free event featured presentations by Ian Grieve of Northampton Fire and Rescue Service, Nick Drake of Daventry Norse, Linda Cobb of DASH Services and Teresa Kaczmarek of the National Landlords Association (NLA). DDC’s Housing Options Team also gave a presentation on their private sector leasing scheme.
The event also provided attendees with an opportunity to network with the speakers as well as fellow landlords and letting agents.
Positive feedback from attendees:
"Very useful as it gives me more knowledge on what to expect and accept from the landlords we use for our service users."
"I really appreciate the sharing of this information to reassure me that I am doing the right thing."
"Legislation updates very useful. Refreshments most welcome."
Date of the next meeting: TBA

DASH Accreditation scheme
DASH are the region's leading provider of housing advice and information for the private rented sector, and their accreditation scheme rewards good property management and good standards.
We invite private landlords in the district to join this free scheme. It is completely voluntary, and accredited landlords will benefit from training opportunities, recognition of maintaining good standards of practice, and receive support and guidance.
As a landlord you should know your gas safety responsibilities.
