Letters sent for postal vote refresh

Residents who normally vote in elections by post are being sent letters from Daventry District Council asking them to provide a new copy of their signature.

In order to vote by post people have to provide their signature and date of birth to ensure that their vote cannot be used by anyone else.

Every five years the Council is required by law to get a fresh specimen signature as part of these security measures.

Residents throughout the district who vote by post are being sent letters from January 31 asking them to provide their signature on an enclosed form.

If the form is not returned to DDC’s Electoral Services team by March 12, that person’s entitlement to vote by post will be lost and they will have to either vote in person or make a new application to vote by post. This year district and parish elections are set to be held on Thursday, May 3.
