People have until this Friday (February 10) to have their say on proposals to lease land to The Grange School in Daventry for them to use as a school playing field.
Daventry District Council (DDC) has agreed to seek the views of the local community on whether to lease an area of open space adjacent to the school in the Grange for them to use as an additional playing area.
The Grange School contacted DDC with the request to fence off the area for their use and now the Council wants residents to give their thoughts on the proposals.
Councillor Alan Hills, Portfolio Holder for Community, Culture and Leisure at Daventry District Council, said: “The Grange School is a primary school in Daventry with around 500 pupils, but it has very limited exterior playing space which means that all outside play activities take place on hard play areas within the school boundary.
“For more formal sporting activities, the school uses Northampton College’s sports grounds, which means that the children have to be taken off-site. As a result the school approached the Council to request that it be allowed to fence off and use an area of green open space that is behind the school.
“We agreed that a consultation supported by the Drayton ward district councillors should take place to see what members of the community think about the idea before any lease is granted, so I would encourage as many people as possible to have a look at the proposals and give us their feedback.”
The proposed plans can be viewed at The Grange School in Staverton Road from Friday, January 13, to Friday, March 10, between 8am and 5pm on weekdays.
Residents can also pick up and complete a consultation response form at the school or at Daventry District Council’s offices in Lodge Road in Daventry.
