The Leader of Daventry District Council is Councillor Chris Millar (Con, Guilsborough and West Haddon).

 

Role of the Leader

 

The Leader of the Council is the Leader of the Administration, which is currently the Conservative Party.

The Leader provides political leadership, chairing meetings of the Strategy Group and working together with executive members, known as Portfolio Holders and the Council’s Senior Management Team, sets out the Council’s vision and the strategic plans necessary to help the council achieve them

About Councillor Chris Millar

 

Chris became a Daventry District Councillor in 1998, representing West Haddon and Guilsborough ward, having previously worked in the banking industry for 25 years. 

 

He has been Leader of Daventry District Council since August 1999 and has also been a county councillor for 11 years. Chris is also currently Chair of the Northamptonshire Waste Partnership - which consists of all district and borough councils and the county council – and a Board member of the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation.

 

Chris is a member of the Local Government Regulation Board Company, representing district and borough councils across the country.

 

He said: “As Leader of the Council it is my aim to lead on our vision to Build a Better District for residents and visitors alike. Councillors and officers are working hard to ensure that we continue to strive to meet the needs of the many diverse communities who live and work in Daventry District.”
