Hundreds of children took part in this week’s October half term activities organised by Daventry District Council.
The week was kick-started with a “Kick it Out” Football Tournament, when 13 teams competed for a place in the County Final.
At Daventry Sports Park, some 47 children learned new skills and techniques with a football camp delivered in partnership with Daventry District Council and Northampton Town Football Club.
The Play Rangers were out and about all over the District, from Farthingstone to Walgrave and nine other villages in-between, to do arts and crafts, games, watch a magic show and try out the climbing wall.
The cold weather also bought in hundreds of children for the free swimming sessions at Daventry Leisure Centre.
It wasn’t just youngsters who were encouraged to Get Active during the school break. On Monday Daventry Active Community Sports Network held a free afternoon of activities for the whole family to enjoy, and around 100 mums, dads, brothers, sisters and cousins turned up to take part in 30 minute activities to get fit and stay healthy.
It is estimated that over 1,000 people took part in activities organised by Daventry District Council during the half-term holiday.
Councillor Alan Hills, portfolio holder for Community, Culture and Leisure, said: “I hope all the parents and children who took part in the half-term activities organised by Daventry District Council enjoyed them.
“It was nice to see so many youngsters staying active over the holiday and I hope it inspires families to continue to take part in these activities to help stay fit and healthy.”
