Swimming pool unaffacted by Anglian Water alert

Daventry Leisure Centre’s swimming pool is unaffected by the recent alert over water supplies in the town and surrounding areas.

The pool, based in Lodge Road, is safe for members of the public to continue using as investigations continue into the presence of the bacteria cryptosporidium in water supplies to the town.

It features a double water filtration system – installed only a year ago – which contains UV filters that act in the same way as boiling water. The leisure centre, which is run by SOLL Leisure on behalf of Daventry District Council, also sought expert advice on the matter from the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management.

Machines that supply water to the pool have been switched off as a further precaution.

The leisure centre café will be complying with Anglian Water’s Boil Notice as instructed by boiling water for drinks and food preparation. Visitors to the gym are advised to bring their own bottled water until further notice. The leisure centre has also placed extra orders for bottled water and soft drinks.
