Tony takes reins as Council’s new Chairman

Councillor Tony Scott has been announced as the new Chairman of Daventry District Council.

 

Councillor Scott, who has represented Badby ward on the council since May 1999, has chosen Macmillan Nurses, the Alzheimer’s Society and Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance as his official Chairman’s charities for the forthcoming year.

 

He will officially receive the chain of office from his predecessor, Councillor Alan Hills, during Daventry District Council’s annual meeting on May 15.

 

Originally from Hoyland Common, near Barnsley in South Yorkshire, Councillor Scott has lived in Daventry district for 32 years. He has been married to wife Laura, a bursar at Staverton Primary School, for 29 years and the couple have a 20-year-old son, Andrew, who is studying human biology at Liverpool University.

 

He worked at Daventry District Council for 24 years, before retiring from his role as Head of Housing Services eight years ago.

 

Councillor Scott, who is also a governor at Staverton Primary School, said: “I’m delighted to take on the role as Daventry District Council Chairman and over the next 12 months I aim to promote all the good things that Daventry district has to offer, as well as raising money for some important local causes.”
