Schools across Daventry District are in a recycling frenzy, collecting as many old Yellow Pages directories as they can.

The schools are taking part in the Yellow Woods Challenge – the simple, educational and fun environmental campaign for schools run by Yellow Pages, the Woodland Trust and Daventry District Council.

Schools have been competing against each other to collect thousands of old Yellow Pages directories, which will be recycled intopaper products.  Schools that recycle the most directories per pupilwill be awarded a share of £700 from Yellow Pages after the race finishes on June 13, 2008.

While the youngsters are busy recycling, they are also invited to take part in an optional art competition.  Schools that create the best giant artwork using old Yellow Pages directory covers will be in with a chance to win £100 in the local competition and up to £1,000 in thenational competition.

For every pound awarded to schools, Yellow Pages gives a matching pound to the Woodland Trust to support its ‘Tree For All’ campaign, the most ambitious children’s tree-planting project ever launched in the UK.
