Fun for all at Countryside Open Day

Countryside open day
 

People young and old will be able to join in a range of activities at the Daventry District Countryside Open Day this weekend.

The popular annual event is being staged at Daventry Country Park in Welton Road, on Sunday, May 18 from 12pm to 4pm.

Rock climbing, candle rolling and wool spinning will be among the attractions, along with stalls, displays and demonstrations.

Daventry District Council’s Recreation Team is heading up an activity arena, where visitors will be able to try rock climbing, a variety of sports and go on short health walks. The arena will also host the Pacesetters German Shepherd Dog display team.

 

Attractions include:

  • Activity Arena with Daventry District C'ouncils Recreation Team (football, rounders, hockey, kwik cricket)
  • Duston German Shepherd Dog Display Team at 2pm
  • Displays include vintage tractors, Friends of Daventry Country Park, River Nene Organic Foods, Alzheimers Society, Canal Crafts and painting, DASH (Daventry Area Safety in the Home), Northamptonshire Police, Soll Leisure, Animals in Need, The Naked Sheep (spinning alpaca fleece), Harvest Loom (peg loom weaving), Northants Bee Keepers (candle rolling, bee hives and wax and honey to buy), Brockwatch Badger Group,
  • Animals - Owls Galore, Rare Bread Sheep,
  • Small fairground rides for young children

 

A Park and Ride service is available from Chaucer Way car park to the country park, costing 25p per person. Alternative parking is available at Lodge Road with walking access to the park via the subway.
