New health community desk launched

A new service offering health advice and support to residents is being launched at Daventry District Council.

The new community desk is based at the One Stop Shop in the council’s offices in Lodge Road, Daventry, and will work alongside the services already offered by Northamptonshire’s Police and Fire and Rescue services.

Jo Davis, Health Partnership Officer for Daventry District Council and Northamptonshire Teaching Primary Care Trust, said: “The aim of the community desk is to provide advice and support on all aspects of health and to work in partnership with external agencies with a remit for health.

“The community desk is ideally situated in the foyer of the council offices so that anyone who is paying their bills or happens to be paying a visit can come and have a chat.”

Last summer the new Communities Desk was launched at the council in an initiative known as the Front Office Shared Services (FOSS) Project, which gave Northamptonshire’s Police and Fire and Rescue Service an additional base in the town to offer people a wealth of information.

Colin Poole, Portfolio Holder for Access and Communication, said: “We are constantly looking at improving the advice and information available to residents in our One Stop Shop and rural outreach centres.

“The Communities Desk at Lodge Road has been well received by the public since its launch and with this additional new service I’m sure it will continue to be of great value to residents.”

The new service is being launched on November 26 and Jo Davis will be at the desk every Wednesday from 9am to 12pm at Daventry District Council’s office in Lodge Road for anyone who would like to get advice.
