Kerbside collections now take your Yellow Pages

Yellow Pages directories and white envelopes with windows can now be left out for Daventry District Council’s kerbside collection and recycling.

Due to advancements in the pulping process used by the re-processor, it is now easy to recycle unwanted white envelopes and Yellow Pages directories alongside, magazines, newspapers, BT directories, letters and flyers in the red boxes.

They will be picked up along with the other items and go through the recycling process to create new paper for other organisations to use.

Yellow Pages directories should have any plastic bag covering removed before being placed in the red kerbside box.

White envelopes can also now be accepted, even if they have a clear window on them. Brown envelopes should be placed in the brown bin – provided they don’t have a see-through window.

“In Daventry district, our composting and recycling rate is nearly 48 per cent of all household waste we produce – but we can always do better,” said Cllr Catherine Boardman, Daventry District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment.

“By continually looking at ways to improve the service on offer to people living in the district we can all work together to help the environment and further cut household waste. Expanding the kerbside collections to include Yellow Pages and white envelopes is one way of doing this.”

The enhanced service will not affect schools wanting to participate in the annual Yellow Woods challenge to recycle as many Yellow Pages as possible. Schools taking part will simply need to produce the front cover of copies already recycled through the kerbside collection service.
