Join in the Great Green Giveaway!

A compost giveaway is being held this week to thank residents for continuing to support Daventry District Council’s brown bin collections.

Ten tonnes of top quality soil improver from the Council’s green waste collections will be available free of charge to Daventry District residents on Saturday, March 13 from 10am to 3pm in the former outdoor pool car park in Ashby Road, Daventry.

The giveaway will be limited to three bags per household and will be given on a first come, first served basis. Residents must bring along their own sturdy bags or containers to take the compost, along with a shovel if they have one.

A voluntary donation will be requested for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance on the day, while the District Council’s Waste Strategy Team will also be on hand to offer further advice on home composting.

Councillor Catherine Boardman, Daventry District Council’s Environment Portfolio Holder, said: “With the brighter, spring weather on its way, this is a fantastic opportunity for residents to grab some free compost for their gardens. You can also find out more about how to turn your own household waste into quality compost for flowerbeds and borders.”

The compost has been given to Daventry District Council free of charge by contractors Brinklow Quarry, which receives the green waste collected from brown bins in Daventry District.
