Food safety was the order of the day all last week at a host of activities across Daventry district to support Food Safety Week.
Daventry District Council lent its support to the national campaign, run by the Food Standards Agency, designed to highlight the importance of food safety and hygiene in the homes.
Members of the council’s environmental health team visited various venues across the district, including a number of schools, to look at issues surrounding food hygiene, and pass on some top tips.
Among these was a trip to Waitrose, in Daventry town centre, in recognition of its maximum five-star rating in the Scores on the Doors scheme, which gives regularly inspected organisations a rating for their food hygiene and ensuring foods on sale are kept in date.
The team also visited schools including Crick Primary School, Falconer’s Hill School, East Haddon CE Primary School and Naseby Primary School.
