A child’s right to play will be celebrated during National Play Day this week.
On August 6, youngsters in Daventry district will join thousands around the country in fun activities, linked by this year’s theme “Give us a go!”.
Daventry District Council’s Play Rangers have teamed up with the Sure Start project in Woodford Halse and the Children’s Centre Health Project Scheme to organise a day of free fun for young people of all ages, including the mobile climbing wall.
The event is part of a packed summer programme the Play Rangers are providing at venues across the district to keep young people entertained during the school holidays.
The “Give us a go!” theme calls for children to be allowed challenging and adventurous play opportunities and aims to shake off the cotton wool culture that can limit children’s play.
The play day event will take place at Sure Start Centre, at Woodford Halse school, from 11am to 3pm.
