Fun for all at Countryside Open Day

Rock climbing, candle rolling and wool spinning will be among the attractions at this

year’s Daventry District Countryside Open Day.

To be held at Daventry Country Park, in Welton Road, on Sunday May 18 from 12pm to 4pm, the popular annual event showcases the best in local activities and country crafts with stalls, displays and demonstrations.

Daventry District Council’s Recreation Team is heading up an activity arena, where visitors will be able to try rock climbing, a variety of sports and go on short health walks. The arena will also host the Pacesetters German Shepherd Dog display team.

Exhibitors include Owls Galore, wool spinning and weaving, and visitors will have the opportunity to buy organic foods, support local charities and try their hand at candle rolling with the Northamptonshire Beekeepers.

For the younger visitor, there will be a mini fair in the car park and the play area.

Gemma Cooper, Countryside and Recreation Officer with Daventry District Council, said: ”We are really looking forward to an exciting day this time around.

“There is something for everyone whether you like art and crafts, sport, learning more about the countryside or just want to pick up a couple of early Christmas presents!”
