Boil notice lifted

There is good news for customers in Northamptonshire, including the Daventry area. Anglian Water has officially lifted the boiling notice.

Anglian water has taken the decision in conjunction with the Health Authorities and Local Authorities.

The decision came at 2pm today (Friday 4 July) following the success of the work at Pitford Water Treatment Works and the flushing of the water mains in recent days.

All customers are advised that they may start drinking their tap water immediately without needing to boil it.

Green “all clear” notices will be posted to customer starting at Northampton tonight. Customers in Daventry area will start receiving their notices over the weekend.

Judy Gregory, Executive Director of Daventry District Council, said that she was impressed with the swift resolution to the water incident and that Anglian Water had consistently kept the Council informed of the water situation.

Anglian Water have announced a goodwill payment will be made to customers in Northampton, Daventry and the surrounding areas for the inconvenience caused by the boil notice.

The payment will be made in the form of  a credit equivalent to six weeks’ free water supply, based on customers’ past annual water bill. This will be up to a maximum of £30 per household. Customer will receive letters providing full details.

If businesses believe there are grounds for further goodwill payment, Anglian Water will consider these indivuadally.
