Daventry District Council has always been committed to the provision of affordable housing and has made it one of its top corporate priorities.
To help the Council understand further the housing needs and aspirations of our residents, we have developed a 3 year rolling programme of housing needs surveys, which means all parishes will have an up to date housing needs survey every 3 years. This will ensure that the information the council holds is as accurate as possible, leading to the right homes being built in the right place.

The process of the survey will be structured in the following way
-
Introduction to the Parish Council of the Housing Needs Surveys and the benefit to the local community
-
Surveys distributed to every household within the Parish by the Parish Council
-
Surveys returned to the Council in the business reply envelope
-
Results analysed by the Housing Strategy Team
-
Report produced and presented to the Parish Council for agreement
Although the survey on its own will not be used as a tool to develop affordable housing it could be used as an evidence base to underpin a planning application, should one be submitted.
The council are asking any resident who receives a Housing Needs Survey, to complete and return it as soon as possible, as their contribution can help their friends and families remain local.
People in housing need can include people in the following circumstances:
Change of circumstances (divorce, separation, death, family breakdown), over crowding, multiple families in one house, adult children living with parent(s), elderly parent(s) living with children, need to live closer to work / family, living in unsuitable conditions (disrepair - lack of modern amenities), special needs - desire for independent living; i.e. sheltered accommodation, modified accommodation for disabled use.
If you feel you have a Housing Need, it is recommended to register with HomeChoice
