Housing Strategy is a vital part of a council's work. It plays the main role in assessing housing need in
Daventry District as well as the future provision of Affordable Housing.
Since 2003 all Local Authorities have been legally obliged to produce housing strategies, which set out a council's objectives and priorities for housing over a period of 3-5 years. The Daventry District Council Housing Strategy
2010-2015 has 5 main aims and within these a number of objectives that detail how we will achieve these aims,
which are:
-
Housing which is Affordable and Accessible
-
Housing which is Sustainable and of a High Design
-
Sustainable and Cohesive Communities
-
Housing for Vulnerable People
-
Provision for an Ageing Population
The production of the strategy involved a 6-week consultation with the public and much input from stakeholders such
as RSLs (Registered Social Landlords), this added to a large amount of research and intelligence that ensured the document accurately reflects the needs of the District.
