Daventry District Council are working in partnership with Brixworth Juniors FC, Weedon FC and Drayton Grange FC to deliver free Street Football sessions to the Brixworth, Weedon and Headlands areas of the district. The first and last sessions in a playing block will be played on DDC’s Giant Inflatable Football Pitch. Sessions will be supervised by FA qualified coaches and volunteers from our partners. At the end of each playing block a one day Street Football Tournament will be held at the Spider Park, Headlands. All sessions are suitable for 13 to 19-year-olds and participants will receive a free Street Football t-shirt.
Project Overview
Street Football has proven to be very successful in other areas of the county, offering youngsters the opportunity to improve their sport, team building, communication and social skills. Providing activities of this nature have proven to help reduce local anti-social behaviour.
Seb Coe, Chair, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games said: "We want to use power of the Games to inspire change. The Inspire programme is recognising the work our partners all round the UK are doing to help us achieve our vision. I congratulate everyone involved in Daventry District Street Football for securing the Inspire mark and wish you every success with your work."
By attending DDC’s Street Football sessions, young people will be eligible to play in our school holiday Street Football tournaments, where they get the chance to battle it out against the other teams from the district in a round robin competition. The tournaments will be based at the Spider Park, Headlands and will take place on DDC’s Giant Inflatable Football Pitch!
The Street Football tournaments and weekly football sessions promote fair play and respect, helping participants make new friends from different communities and backgrounds.
No need to book, just turn up and play!
