Welcome to the first ever ‘Get Active’ holiday brochure advertising activities from October until June. Hot on the heels of a hugely successful summer holiday programme, Daventry Active Ltd and Daventry District Council have once again teamed up with a variety of partner organisations to offer a diverse range of activities for young people.
Activities relating to football, rugby, tennis, cricket, basketball, dance, boxing, water polo, swimfit and arts & crafts will all be taking place over the next few months. We will also be delivering ‘Kick it Out’ and ‘Sport Relief’ events in October 2011 and February 2012 respectively.
With the recent success enjoyed by the England Cricket team and with the London 2012 Olympics and footballs European Championships taking place this summer, we are determined to capitalise on the increased awareness of sport nationally to ensure that even more residents of the Daventry District have the opportunity to take part in sport and active recreation.
The brochure also contains a look back at the how Daventry has embraced the Olympic spirit over the last 4 years, including a look back at our successful Open Weekend events that took place at Daventry Leisure Centre and the Althorp Estate during summer 2011.
Sport plays a crucial role in the lives of Daventry residents and has a key role to play in areas such as community cohesion, physical & mental health and personal enjoyment. The district has a proud record of sports participation and we hope that the programme of events contained herewith will help to further increase sports participation within the Daventry district.
We hope that there is something for everyone in this year’s programme and look forward to meeting you at activities across the next few months.
