Countryside - environmental education

In recent years the park has seen a greater emphasis on environmental education. The increasing impact of man on the Earth has made it necessary for people to better understand the world around them. Increased knowledge and understanding will contribute to the reduction of the negative impact humanity has on the environment. With this in mind Daventry Countryside Services has been running an environmental education program since 1996. Last year we hosted or visited a combination of 92 schools and community groups.

Outdoor Classroom.  This is an ingenious geodesic dome. It is made from interlocking hazel poles. When completed it forms a dome-like shape, which is big enough for approximately twenty children. This is ideal for delivering environmental education outside, providing shelter from the elements. Teams of children undertake the construction of the dome and are usually amazed by its size and complexity.

Community Allotment Garden.  We are very pleased and proud to offer local schools and community groups the chance to experience the rich and rewarding learning environment provided by this unique facility.  Please see Countryside - residential study centres for a full description.
