Countryside - visitors' centre

Visitors' Centre, Reservoir Cafe and The Rangers' Office.

We are extremely lucky to have solar panels providing us with electricity. The centre was made into a "Solar House" through partnership between the Council and market leaders in solar power.

People are welcome to come and see for themselves how solar power works. There is also an exhibition on solar power to allow people to become better informed on the subject.

In November of 2005 the visitor centre welcomed, with open arms, the addition of a micro wind turbine, providing the visitors' centre with more clean and renewable electricity. This project was created through partnership working between Daventry District Council and "Windsave".

This is the first project of its kind across the whole country. Information on similar turbines for domestic use can be found at the visitors' centre, or from David Malone at Daventry District Council.

The centre provides information on local events and tourist attractions. We also provide information on healthy living energy efficiency and conservation.

Classroom

This space proves very useful for community groups and schools, allowing groups to come together to learn about the environment. With the opportunity for practical "hands on" experience right outside! The classroom is ideal for mixed academic and field study events.

Café

The café franchise provides delicious hot and cold food, a variety of hot and cold drinks with a range of light meals and snacks as well as meals. The variety of food is good, with many tasty, healthy options. There is also a large selection of ice creams and sweets. The café can provide covered seating for 20 people.
