Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) in Daventry

Daventry District Council has been working on a pilot scheme to introduce Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) into the town. If progressed successful the pilot scheme could form part of a bigger network for the town. .

The proposed PRT project (pilot) would see individual driverless public transport ‘pods’ on a 5km track with five stations and a depot. The 'pods' would run on demand and take passengers to their selected destinations via the most efficient route on a congestion-free network.

Due to the pausing of the project the PRT Advisory Panel established to discuss and influence progress has been ceased (August 2009).

The Council would very much like to thank members of the panel for their input and interest in the project over the last twelve months.
