Most people live in a house with all the furniture that they need - beds, chairs, tables etc. Some even have extra furniture that is no longer required.
Others are not so fortunate and their homes are not adequately furnished. They do not have a table, enough chairs, crockery or cutlery, and many including children, even have to sleep on the floor.
Daventry Contact is the link between those with unwanted furniture, soft furnishings bedding and household appliances, and these people in desperate need.
The most important items that are needed are:
Beds
Bedroom furniture
Sofas
Armchairs
Small dining/kitchen tables
Chairs
All beds, sofa, armchairs etc must display a sewn in label confirming that they conform with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 otherwise they cannot collect them.
They collect items FREE OF CHARGE from those able to give, but are not a waste collection service. All furnishings must be dry, clean and in good condition. The collection driver can refuse to collect if unsuitable.
They also have Grand Sales throughout the year held in Daventry if they have surplus items.
They collect and deliver to Daventry and surrounding villages.

Furniture that Contact cannot accept:
Wall Units over 4ft long
Sideboards over 4ft long
All wardrobes over 5ft long or 6ft high
All beds and mattresses not displaying sewn on fire retardant labels
Stained and soiled beds and mattresses
3 PC suites, 2 PC suites, chairs that do not have sewn on fire retardant labels, or that are soiled or torn.
