Schools Education

Daventry District Council works closely with the Northamptonshire Waste Education Team, providing support of Waste, Recycling and Environmental educational initiatives across the District, and regularly presents educational sessions (assemblies/workshops) to schools within the area.

As of December 2005 twenty six schools (75%) had been visited, with 4393 pupils involved in the assembly/workshop activities. The Waste Education Bus visited twenty three (60%) of schools, with 1500 pupils taking part in a session on the bus, and 159 pupils from two Daventry schools have visited the Waste Education Centre.

The seven borough and district councils in Northamptonshire, in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council, also support the Waste Education Team, who deliver the Slim Your Bin @ School project. The aim of this project is to raise awareness to all school children about waste as an issue and the importance of the waste reduction, reuse and recycling. The Slim Your Bin @ School Project consists of four main elements detailed below.

For more information on any of these elements please contact the relevant member of the team or visit www.slimyourbinatschool.co.uk
