National Recycling Targets

In Waste 2000, governments National Waste Strategy, each local authority were set recycling targets. The targets for Daventry were:
  • To achieve a recycling/composting rate of 30% by 2003/04. - We achieved 42%
  • To achieve a recycling/composting rate of 30% by 2005/06. - We achieved 45%
More recently targets for 2007/08 were set and the target for Daventry is:

  • To achieve a recycling/composting rate of 30% by 2007/08.
Government have recently consulted on a revised National Strategy and we expect to receive new targets for us to achieve.

Northamptonshire Waste Strategy


The district, borough and County councils within Northamptonshire work together as part of the Northamptonshire Waste Partnership to deal with waste together. A comprehensive waste strategy was developed in 2002 and this is currently being updated. It will cover how Northamptonshire will deal with its waste over the next 20 years.
