Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement is the Council's statement for involving the community in the preparation of the Local Development Framework and planning applications.

This document went through various stages of preparation before it was adopted. Each stage involved a period of public consultation, which then informed the next revision of the document.

Informal Consultation


An informal Draft Statement of Community Involvement was published for consultation in July 2003

Pre-Submission Document


A Pre-Submission Statement of Community Involvement was subject to public consultation in December 2004.

Submission Document


The Council formally submitted the Submission Statement of Community Involvement to the Secretary of State to consider on 17th March 2005. The binding Inspectors Report into the Statement of Community Involvement was received on 16th December 2005.

Adopted Document


Our Statement of Community Involvement has been approved by the Secretary of State and was brought into effect on 2nd March 2006.

The Statement of Community Involvement will be subject to regular review to see if it requires amendment due to a change in circumstances or to improve its effectiveness where appropriate.
