Councillors - declaration of interest

Daventry District Council has adopted a Code of Conduct, which sets out the rules that govern the behaviour of its members.  All elected and co-opted Members of the District Council are required to adhere to this Code of Conduct (Part 5 of DDC Constitution).  In accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act 2000, the District Council has a Standards Committee to oversee the conduct of District and Parish Councillors.

The Code of Conduct aims to ensure that Members do not abuse their position or misuse their authority's resources. The code also contains rules governing disclosure of interest and withdrawal from meetings where Members have relevant interests.  A Member's Register of Interest form can be viewed by selecting their details from the online Councillor database.  Members are required to record on the public register their financial and other interests.

Any suspected breaches of the code can be referred to the Chairman of the Assessment Sub-committee.
