Committees

The Council is the decision making body for all matters other than those matters delegated to the Planning, Licensing and Standards Committees. It receives recommendations from both the Strategy Group and the Overview and Scrutiny Steering Committee. It delegates certain decisions to the Corporate Board. The role of the Strategy Group is to give initial consideration to potential strategies and policies and to make recommendations to the Council for decision. Task Panels may be convened by the Strategy Group or the Overview and Scrutiny Committees from time to time to deal with specific business.

To find out more information about any of the aforementioned functions, the Council's decision-making bodies or how to take part in meetings, please contact the Governance Team (See Contact Information for details). The majority of Council meetings are open to the public. The public can be excluded from some meetings if the items being discussed are of a confidential nature.
