At the Annual Council meeting on May 14, 2009, Councillor Daniel Cribbin was elected Chairman of Daventry District Council.
Councillor Cribbin, who has represented Moulton ward on the council since 2002, has chosen to continue supporting the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and also selected the Parkinson’s Disease Society as his official Chairman’s charities for the forthcoming year.
He officially received the chain of office from his predecessor, Councillor Tony Scott, during Daventry District Council’s annual meeting on May 14.
Councillor Annette Dunn was sworn in as Vice Chairman.
Councillor Cribbin has lived in Moulton all his life and at the age of 38, becomes the youngest ever Chairman of Daventry District Council.
He works as a clinical negligence lawyer at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, while his partner Yolanda is a school teacher in London.
Councillor Cribbin, who is also a Governor at Moulton School and Science College, said: “I’m hoping to reach out to more of the young people of the district because Councillors are often seen as old, fuddy-duddy people.
“I’m hoping to get out to more of the youth groups during my stint as Chairman.
"With that I also mean those people in their 20s and 30s as well as teenagers to try to energise them in politics and perhaps get them interested in becoming councillors.”
