Daventry District Council maintains a Citizen Panel (also known as the People's Panel) consisting of over 600 residents. Panel members are available for consultation as and when the need arises. For instance, when the Council is reviewing a particular service, a random sample of panel members might be sent a postal questionnaire to fill in. Alternatively, panel members might be invited to join a small focus group to have more detailed discussions about a particular service or service proposal.
The Sustainable Communities Act 2007 requires councils to maintain a representative panel of local citizens. Under the terms of the Act, proposals for creating more sustainable local services have to be agreed between the Council and panel members.
