Plans to improve facilities in the heart of Daventry are progressing with planning permission currently being sought for the WaterSpace development.
Daventry District Council has submitted an outline planning application to West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) to develop land to the north of Eastern Way, Daventry - Sites 3 & 6 of the Town Centre Vision.
The proposed use is for a mixture of leisure, residential, community, health, employment and educational facilities, and mooring basins, canal and lock, which will in time link to the proposed Daventry Canal Arm.
A detailed planning application for the Daventry Canal Arm has also been submitted to WNDC, in Aug 2011 – a 2.6km stretch of canal linking the Grand Union Canal to Sites 3 & 6 of the town centre, including six locks.
Hundreds of people took part in a series of consultation events in 2010 over revised proposals for Sites 3 & 6 and the Daventry Canal Arm, and the feedback was considered prior to their submission.
As the relevant planning authority, WNDC is now in the process of consulting the public on the applications.
Access to the online search function and viewing of hard copies of both applications is also available at Daventry District Council offices and Daventry Library. Copies of the Environmental Statement Non Technical Summaries for both applications are available on request.
