The changing face of Daventry

Ambitious plans to enhance Daventry are under way - coupling innovation and cutting-edge technology with practicality to create a sustainable, thriving town for today's residents and future generations.

As the town's population is set to almost double by the Year 2021, Daventry District Council is working in partnership with a range of organisations on delivering its Town Centre Vision - a regeneration programme aimed at improving the town's amenities and economic and social vitality.

In this area of the website you can find out more about the projects currently taking place and those that are being planned for the future including:

The Daventry Master Plan

The Daventry Master Plan Interim Draft, adopted in December 2006, sets out how the town could be transformed, presenting a series of innovative proposals for redevelopment of strategically important sites in the town over the next 15 years.

This document is in support of the Town Centre Vision 2021 and has been the catalyst to a number of key development projects now being taken forward. This includes The iCon and Daventry WaterSpace projects, along with extensive retail and leisure developments on key town centre sites such as the Abbey Retail Park and land north of High Street.

The Daventry WaterSpace (Daventry Canal Arm and Site 3)

Work is progressing on plans to create a new arm linking the Grand Union Canal from the north east of Daventry Country Park to a proposed mixed use development site with mooring basins that will expand the town centre to the north of Eastern Way.

Advanced Transport Systems

The Council has been considering options for a driverless public transport system as part of its long-term vision to regenerate the heart of Daventry. Find out more about the Council's position on innovative public transport.
