Immigration property suitability inspections

Applications for permanent residency in, or visitors to, this country from some countries are usually required by that country’s British High Commission or British Embassy to provide a letter from the Local Authority of intended residency.  This letter will confirm if the property is fit to live in, in accordance with housing legislation, and also that the addition of the person(s) entering the country will not cause the property to be statutory overcrowded.

If you wish this Council to provide such a letter you should complete and return the following the following form which requires details of:

  • Information as to Number of Persons Sleeping in a Dwelling

  • Details of rooms available.

An application fee of £100 by cheque made payable to Daventry District Council.  The form is available by clicking on the following link:-

Application for Immigration Clearance Form

Upon receipt of the application in full you will be contacted to arrange a visit to the property to carry out an inspection.  Upon completion of the inspection Daventry District Council will provide a letter to Her Majesty's Immigration Service (HMIS) confirming the suitability of the property for the number of visitors & those already occupying the property.
