Derelict & Open Properties

The Waste Management Team ensure that empty properties are kept free from rubbish.

If a building appears unsafe and a danger to those around it then it should be reported to the Building Control Team as a dangerous structure.

The Council will encourage owners of long-term derelict and vacant properties to bring them back into use. The Council may also consider the compulsory purchase of long-term derelict and vacant properties.

If you know of any vacant or unsecured houses where owners fail to bring them back into occupation, please contact the Environmental Improvement Team with the details.
