Our Values
With contributions from staff via team briefs and other meetings, we have developed a fresh set of values that represent the type of organisation we want to be. The values are aspirational- reflecting the change we want to make in the way we work and building on existing strengths. These clear statements are to guide the way we work, share ideas, behave and respond to our customers.
We will:
-
Place the customer at the heart of everything we do
-
Communicate honestly and openly with customer and colleagues at all times
-
Strive for continuous improvement and excellence in all we do
-
Achieve positive outcomes for the community through delivery of high quality services and community empowerment
-
Demonstrate good leadership, respect and effective team working
-
Promote and value diversity of our district
Local Area Agreement (LAA)
TheLAA contains quality of life improvement priorities for our county for the period 2008 - 2011. Each priority has a performance target that is agreed with central government. Key partners to the LAA include the county council and the seven district/borough councils as well as the police, health service, and other public bodies. All partners are expected to co-operate with each other to ensure performance targets are met and quality of life improves across the county.
Local Strategic Partnership (LSP)
The District Council together with its partners in the public, private and voluntary sector come together as the LSP. Their aim is to identify how they can work better together to improve the social, environmental and economic well-being of our District. Their priorities for action are contained in the Sustainable Community Strategy. Priorities are agreed upon by reference to a variety of evidence sources. These include public health and crime statistics, the views of parish and district councillors, and what residents say are important in the household surveys that the Council carries out.
